Trainer Gerald Ryan has taken the honours with three winners at the official two-year-old barrier trials at Randwick, all for Sun Stud.
Three colts, King’s Champ, Fortress Command and Covert Ops, all won their 849m-heats with the latter streaking away by eight lengths.
The fast time of Monday morning went to the Mark Newnham-trained Exceed The Stars who ran 48.96 seconds and was the only juvenile to break 49s in the 14 trials.
Exceed The Stars was having his second trial after a win over 740m in Sydney’s first two-year-old trial at Randwick on August 28.
There have been a couple of trials for two-year-olds in recent weeks but Monday’s session was for juveniles only on the Kensington track.
The first races in Sydney for two-year-olds, the Breeders Plate and Gimcrack Stakes will be run at Randwick on September 29 but Ryan said he was unsure how many he might have at the meeting.
“KIng’s Champ and Covert Ops are likely to go there and Valour Elite who ran second in his heat,” Ryan said.
King’s Champ is by first season sire Deep Field out of triple Group One winner Yosei.
“He is a nice colt and we’ll see how he goes over the next two weeks.”
The Breeders’ Plate is also the aim for Exceed The Stars who is raced by a Darby Racing syndicate.
