Can India justify their World Cup favouritism when they meet South African at the Perth Stadium, WA?
India are currently listed as favourites to win the T20 World Cup at +200, although it appears they are yet to be truly tested. Their short quote is based more on the losses of their rivals – Australia going down to NZ and England succumbing to Ireland.
India fell over the line against the struggling Pakistan in their opening fixture on the final bowl of the match, courtesy of some Virat Kohli magic. The Indian number three smashed 82 runs from 53 balls in one the highlights of the tournament so far. The Indians did appear less than certain for long periods of the game as indicated by the razor tight finish.
Next up India had a soft win against cricketing minnows The Netherlands, posting 2/179 and then restricting the Dutch to 9/123. Given this lack of solid form, it seems betting markets might be getting a little carried away with India’s chances at this stage of the rain marred cup.
South Africa are currently listed as third favourites to hoist the silverware at +400. Their opening fixture against Zimbabwe was abandoned due to bad weather, and they easily accounted for Bangladesh at their most recent outing. The Proteas posted 5/205 with Quinton de Kock slogging 63 from 38 balls, and Rilee Rossouw blasting 109 from a mere 56 balls in a dominant display of T20 batting.

Like India, the South Africans are also yet to be tested by another top ranked side, so we are still guessing about their true form. The weather bureau is predicting fine weather for WA, so we should be able to avoid the long delays, abandoned matches, and Duckworth Lewis calculations plaguing matches being staged on the east coast.
We are tipping South Africa here at the big odds. The teams appear evenly matched, so we are obliged to take the longer quote.
South Africa is the tip at +140 with BetOnline.
