Sydney Sixers vs Perth Scorchers match preview
The Big Bash League continues this Saturday afternoon at the SCG, as the Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers continue their storied rivalry on January 11.
Despite sitting near the top of the ladder, cracks are starting to emerge in the Sixers lineup as they have now gone winless in their last three games.
On Thursday night they fell to the last-placed Melbourne Stars by 16 runs. Despite standout efforts from Sean Abbott (3/29) and James Vince (53 off 44), Sydney lost too many wickets in the chase and struggled to generate any momentum.
As a result, the Sixers are no longer the betting favourites for the tournament, as their odds have dropped down to $4 with leading BBL bookmakers.
Internationals James Vince and Akeal Hossain have completed their Big Bash stints as they move on to the ILT20. But in positive news, Aussie Test star Steve Smith is available for the remainder of the regular season, while either Joel Davies or English import Jafer Chohan should also come into the side.
The Scorchers are also struggling with form at the moment, as they have lost their last two matches.
On Tuesday night, they lost to the Melbourne Renegades by four wickets with two balls to spare. Despite setting just 148 to win, Perth looked well in control of the chase as they had their opposition 4/10. However, they fell apart late in the innings, as the Gades’ tail got the job done.
Despite being one of the heavyweights of the BBL, the Scorchers have had a below par season. They sit fifth on the ladder right now and have odds of $8.50 to win the tournament with major sports betting apps.
A pair of changes are expected to the side as both Mitch Marsh and Matthew Kelly have been left out of the travelling squad. Andrew Tye and Matty Hurst are the expected inclusions.

Sydney Sixers vs Perth Scorchers betting predictions
With the two sides unusually out of form, the odds for this game are practically even with leading cricket bookmakers. While the Sixers’ form has wavered, their home form remains perfect, compared to the Scorchers who have just one win outside of Perth. Sydney’s early season form was excellent, so back them to get back on the winners list at $1.93.
As one of the biggest names in world cricket returns, the expectations are high for Steve Smith as he returns at the top of the order. Two years ago when he played, Smith scored two 100s and a 50 in just five matches, averaging 86.50. With plenty of experience and a wide array of shots, beck Smith to lead the Sixers at $3.75 with Dabble.
Despite the Scorchers’ poor run, opening bowler Jason Behrendorff has been incredibly consistent throughout the tournament. He has the second-most wickets in the tournament and has taken multiple poles in all but one game. At $2.35 with PlayUp, back Behrendorff to continue his wicket taking form, taking two or more.
