Sweet Redemption takes out Gr 3 Toy Show

Sweet Redemption has made a successful return to racing in the Group Three Toy Show Quality at Randwick.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained mare led with Adam Hyeronimus and withstood the late challenges of Euro Angel ($4) and Imposing Lass ($3.10 favourite), to score by a long head.

Bott suggested earlier in the week that Sweet Redemption ($9) typically needed a couple of races to slip into the groove, but ultimately three trials were sufficient to notch her sixth career win, and second at Group level.

“She’s pretty talented, she was nice and forward going into the race and the way the pattern of the day’s been playing and the track’s been playing we took that approach to make it a good test,” Bott said.

“She is quite fit and Adam gave her a good positive ride and she was strong enough to hold on late.”

Hyeronimus said conditions had favoured Sweet Redemption.

“I had an uncontested lead for the majority of the pace. I really picked up the pace at the 600, the track’s hard and suits Gai’s horses,” he said.

“Everything panned out well.”

Bott said Sweet Redemption would stick to fillies and mares races as the partnership worked the five-year-old through the grades.
