Successful start for new partnership

The much-travelled Rocknet’s win at the Gold Coast could be the first of many for old friends from North Queensland.

Rocknet won several races in Victoria for Robbie Griffiths before being sold and sent to North Queensland.

He arrived in Brisbane in September after winning the Cairns Amateur Cup.

The gelding, a winner over 2200m on Saturday, is now with the father-son training combination of Dale and Billy Healy who have a complex on the Sunshine Coast.

The Healys have a long association with Rocknet’s part-owner Jeff Caught who had several classy horses when he trained in Brisbane before returning to North Queensland.

“Dad had a lot of horses with Jeff over the years and I used to do work for Jeff as well. When we went out training Jeff sent me horses,” Billy Healy said.

“In fact he has sent me a good number of horses. We will have a few more in his colours in the coming weeks.”

Rocknet, who is by champion sire Fastnet Rock, originally cost $220,000 as a yearling, and will now be set for an open handicap at the Sunshine Coast in three weeks.

“We can step him up to open company and get some weight off his back. Hopefully we can get more winners for Jeff in coming weeks,” Healy said.
