The Adelaide Strikers are set to welcome the Hobart Hurricanes to the Adelaide Oval on Wednesday night as the Big Bash League train rolls on.
With the Renegades defeating the Stars on Monday night, the result has relegated the Adelaide Strikers to the bottom of the BBL11 table. With just one win to their name, the Strikers will be needing a big form reversal if they are to upset the Hurricanes on Wednesday. The bowlers did their part last time out against the Thunder when restricting them to 7/172 with Wes Agar (3/26) and Peter Siddle (3/36) the chief destroyers.
Remarkably, off-season recruit Fawad Ahmed has just two wickets to his name and alongside Rashid Khan will be needing to strike on regular occasions if the Strikers are to defeat the Canes.
Outside of Harry Nielsen (39) and Matt Renshaw (30) no other batsman managed to make 20 runs against the Thunder and the Strikers will be needing a lot more out of their top order. Matthew Short and Jake Weatherald keep on making a flashy 15 or 20, but if Adelaide are to be taken seriously against Hobart, then one of their top three need to make a serious contribution.

The Hurricanes are coming off a last start upset loss to the Brisbane Heat with their dynamic top order unable to get them off to a hot start when chasing just 150. Matthew Wade (1) and Ben McDermott (0) were both back in the pavilion by the end of the second over and despite Tom Rogers whacking an unbeaten 33 off 20 balls, the Hurricanes fell short by 14 runs.
With a flat Adelaide Oval track expected, if the Hurricanes bat first, they are more than capable of piling on the runs and have the bowling attack to restrict this underperforming Strikers lineup.
Surprising odds of $1.66 are available with some online bookmakers for the Hurricanes to bring up their fifth win, with the Strikers perhaps at a slightly shorter quote of $2.20 based on their current form.

Hobart Hurricanes to win
Following a surprise loss to the Heat, Hobart will be looking to get there season back on track with a win against the underperforming Strikers. With the international quality of Matthew Wade, Ben McDermott and D’Arcy Short in their top three, the Hurricanes have the firepower required to set a big score or chase down whatever the Strikers set. With a more than handy bowling attack consisting of Nathan Ellis, Tom Rogers, Sandeep Lamichhane and Riley Meredith we anticipate the Canes will be too good throughout for this Strikers side.

To Take 2+ Wickets: Tom Rogers
In what is somewhat of a surprise in BBL11, Tom Rogers is the leading wicket taker in the competition, having already snared 14 wickets in his seven games. He has gone wicketless in just game so far, but with three hauls of three wickets and two games where he has picked up two poles, we expect Rogers to be handful for Adelaide. Upwards of $2 is available for Rogers to keep up his two-wicket average per match and with a fragile Strikers batting lineup, he looks the goods!
