St Kilda vs Geelong AFL betting preview
The St Kilda Saints and Geelong Cats once had a rivalry as good as any in the AFL, and that fuse could be relit when they meet at the Gabba this Monday.
Jack Steven’s offseason move from Moorabbin to Kardinia will add some extra heat to a contest that was shaping up to be belter in any case.
The Saints will be counting their blessings after holding on against the spirited Gold Coast Suns to claim a four-point win on Thursday night.

That clutch result saw St Kilda jump to second on the ladder with seven wins this season, putting them a game clear of the fifth-placed Cats.
Those rankings are liable to change by the time this game kicks off, however, as the likes of Brisbane, Richmond and West Coast will have played by then.
We can expect both teams to attack with purpose and confidence, as Max King and Tom Hawkins provide strong targets inside 50 and have some lethal crumbers around them.
St Kilda vs Geelong disposal tips
Brad Hill 20+ disposals
Although Brad Hill has only passed the 20-disposal mark once this season, we like his chances against Geelong based on previous form. Hill has recorded over 25 touches three times against the Cats, having faced them more often than any other team in the competition. Hill is an experienced head at the Saints and will use his nous and knowledge to find plenty of ball on the flanks this week.
Joel Selwood 25+ disposals
Coming back from a hamstring issue last round against the Roos, Selwood was quiet but sturdy with 14 disposals. The Geelong skipper will be better for the run and should hit another gear when he faces the Saints, against whom he has a pretty handy record. Selwood posted his career-high 43 disposals against St Kilda in 2017, which he followed up with 27 and 22 touches in the next two meetings.
St Kilda vs Geelong goalscorer betting
Dan Butler 2+ goals
After booting four crucial goals in the win over Gold Coast in round 10, Dan Butler moved to equal-second with Tom Papley in the Coleman Medal race on 21 majors. The premiership-winning small forward was built for big matches and has kicked multiples in eight of his 10 games this season, so the $2.25 for two or more goals looks like a steal.
Tom Hawkins 2+ goals
If you are looking for a consistent two-goal-a-game player, Tom Hawkins is your man. The big key forward has kicked multiples in seven of his 10 games this season, including each of his last three. The Roos found it difficult to stop the Tomahawk even with Robbie Tarrant and Majak Daw in defence, so the likes of Jake Carlisle and Dougal Howard had best be on their game.
St Kilda vs Geelong match predictions
Both teams 60+ points
We cannot be certain about the conditions at the Gabba on Monday, but we are more than confident the Saints and Cats are going to put plenty of goals on the board. These squads are both in the top three for scoring this season, with St Kilda averaging a league-best 75 points per game.
St Kilda to win
Even when the likes of Tim Membrey and Jade Gresham were not at their best, the Saints were good enough to beat a very competitive Gold Coast side. Both St Kilda and Geelong have more to give this round, but we are tipping Brett Ratten’s men to step up and spring an upset at the Gabba.
