St Kilda v Gold Coast Rd 13 preview
The Gold Coast Suns will be looking for their first away win of the season on Saturday night as they head to Marvel Stadium to face St Kilda in round 13 of the 2024 AFL season.
However, despite their poor away record, the Suns enter this game as slight favourites at $1.78 with BoomBet, while the Saints are slight underdogs at $2.07 with Unibet. Top AFL bookmakers are expecting a close game, as the line is set at just 3.5 points.
Last Sunday, the Saints broke a three-match losing streak as they beat the West Coast Eagles by 14 points on the road. In a back-and-forth match, Ross Lyon’s side trailed by 11 points early in the final term before kicking five of the last six goals to secure the win.
Sitting 15th on the ladder, finals are out of the equation for St Kilda this season, but with a strong defensive record, they still have the ability to compete with top sides in the AFL.
With a largely clean bill of health, don’t expect many changes for the Saints this week. Key forward Max King is the only doubt after being subbed out against the Eagles, leaving 23-year-old Cooper Sharman as a potential inclusion.
The Suns secured their seventh win of the season in round 12 as they beat the second-placed Essendon by 11 points at home. Despite leading from midway through the second quarter, Damien Hardwick’s men were unable to put the visitors away until the last two minutes, when co-captain Touk Miller kicked the sealer.
Sitting eighth, Gold Coast are right in the hunt for their first-ever finals appearances. With plenty of competition for places, online bookies are still paying $2.25 for the Suns to finish in the top eight.
The Suns are also expected to make few changes this week, as they had no injuries during Sunday’s win.

St Kilda v Gold Coast R13 predictions
With the finals in view, this is a must-win clash for the Suns against a bottom-four side. However, they remain winless on the road this season, which bodes well for St Kilda’s chances after a morale-boosting effort in Perth. At $2.07 with Unibet, there is great value in backing the Saints to cause an upset.
Leading the Saints with 16 goals, small forward Jack Higgins is a bright spot in an attack that has struggled this season. Despite missing three games, the former Tiger has kicked multiple goals on six occasions this year. He has kicked five goals in each of his last two matches against the Suns, so back Higgins in for another big day with three or more majors at $3.60 with top AFL betting sites.
The top contested-ball winner in the AFL, Gold Coast midfielder Matt Rowell has had an excellent first half of the season. Averaging 24 disposals per game, the 2019 No.1 draft pick has collected over 25 disposals on six occasions in 2024. Known for winning his own footy, back Rowell for another big day with 25 or more disposals at $2.55 with top Aussie bookmakers.
