Snitzson heading to Guineas Flemington win

Some of the connections of Black Caviar’s daughter Oscietra have had a consolation win with Snitzson at Flemington.

Jill and David Taylor along with Neil Werrett are part-owners of Snitzson and share in the ownership of Oscietra who finished third on debut in the opening race on Sunday.

Lindsay Park senior trainer David Hayes says Snitzson will now be given a short break following his victory in the Red Tempo Handicap (1400m).

Ridden by Mark Zahra, Snitzson was a well supported $3.70 favourite before scoring a three-quarter length win over Portman ($7.50) with Viceroy ($9.50) a short-head away third.

Hayes now plans to set Snitzson on a path to the Group One Australian Guineas at Flemington in March.

“He can have a freshen-up now,” Hayes said.

“He can go on the water walker and then go out in a day paddock during the day.

“Maybe we could look at the C S Hayes Stakes here a fortnight before the Guineas.

“It’s a race I would like to win.”

Zahra was impressed with Snitzson who was ridden back in the field and had to weave his way through the opposition.

“He’s a horse on the rise,” Zahra said.

“He’s beaten the older horses today and that’s always a good sign.”
