Both the Cronulla Sharks and New Zealand Warriors came away with unexpected results in Round 8, so you can guarantee both clubs will have a point to prove either way when they meet on Sunday afternoon.
Cronulla disappointed on their road trip to Brisbane and only scored seven points, while the Warriors managed to get a Golden Point win over the Raiders in a game where the statistics suggest they would have been lucky to beat a third-grade team.
The Sharks have quickly become a team even neutral teams enjoy watching but their performance against Brisbane looked like an aberration rather than a trend.
Nicho Hynes produced maybe his worst game in the NRL, yet he won many admirers for displaying his emotions in the press conference and showing just how much the loss hurt him.
The good news for the team is they return to their home ground where they have won eight of their last nine, which is big reason behind their $1.20 favouritism.
Their last three performances have been particularly impressive, with big wins over the Knights and Tigers as well as a demolition job against Manly.
That would suggest the 13+ margin has to be the way many punters are going to lean. While the game against Manly fell into the 1-12 category, they did lead 32-0 at halftime.
Looking at their best options to score and immediately the mind looks at the left wing.
If Canberra can find plenty of space down that side of the field against the Warriors, what will the likes of Siosifa Talakai do? The hulking Tongan is $2.10 to score and you can bet he is going to be in just about every Sharks’ fans multi.

Neds.com.au has a great option with Talakai vs Rocco Berry in who will score more tries, and you can even boost the price to $2.50 if you think Berry won’t get across the line for the Warriors.
The Warriors are putting together one of the strangest seasons in recent memory and who knows what they will throw up this week.
They’re undefeated at their temporary home of Redcliffe but have a 60-point loss on their resume. That loss to Melbourne at this stage does look to be a blip on the radar.
While they are probably not finals bound, they have more than enough talent to be competitive every week and for seven of their eight games they’ve been exactly that.
The +13.5 most weeks would be too big of a line and punters would jump all over it, but the Sharks’ recent form at home is indicating the Warriors will be taught a lesson or two.
Dallin Watene-Zelezniak at $2.50 looks their best option in the anytime tryscorer market, having scored six tries in his last seven appearances.
Key matchup: Hynes vs Johnson
Shaun Johnson returned to a former club for the 2022 season and in this game he takes on his other former club. He has two game-winning field goals so far this season and he will want to upset the apple cart when he returns to The Shire. His opposite number in Nicho Hynes expressed raw emotions last week after he failed to live up to his expectations in the loss to Brisbane, so you know he is also going to be keen to atone for that. Two halfbacks with it all to prove.
Sharks vs Warriors match predictions
Cronulla should get the win at the big margin. They have the look of being a top-four contender, and teams who are at that end of the ladder don’t put two bad performances together.
Cronulla Sharks by 13+ points
Sharks vs Warriors same-game multi tips
Sharks 13+ with Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, Nicho Hynes and Siosifa Talakai all scoring tries pays $20.88.
