Perth Scorchers vs Melbourne Renegades BBL10 Betting Preview
Sunday, 03 January 2021
The first match of a Sunday night doubleheader in the Big Bash sees the Perth Scorchers take on the Melbourne Renegades in the first match to be played in Perth for this year’s BBL. The Scorchers head back home on the back of their first win of the season against the Adelaide Strikers on New Year’s Eve. On the other side of things the Melbourne Renegades registered a fifth straight defeat after going down to the Sydney Thunder by 7 runs via the DLS Method.
The last time these two teams met, was when the Renegades comprehensively beat the Scorchers by 7 wickets in the ‘Gades only win of the BBL10 campaign.
Perth will be looking to build on their impressive showing against the Strikers where a superb spell of fast bowling by Jhye Richardson set up the win when taking 3/19. The Scorchers never really looked like losing after a dynamic start from Jason Roy at the top of the order was supported by composed innings from Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis to get the job done with two overs to spare.
The Renegades on the other hand may feel hard done by after setting the Thunder 166 from 17 overs after a Shaun Marsh masterclass. With impressive starts with the ball by Kane Richardson, Peter Hatzoglou and Will Sutherland the Renegades were at least going to take their match down to the wire. However when the rain hit the Thunder were in front of the DLS score and as they say the rest is history.

Perth Scorchers vs Melbourne Renegade BBL Betting Tips
Perth Scorchers To Win
The Scorchers will be hoping their win against the Strikers is a stepping stone towards being the model of consistency they have throughout previous BBL’s. The return to Perth comes at a perfect time, as they generally relish the opportunity to play at Optus Stadium as it tends to suit their fast bowling attack like no other. If the batsman can do their part of the job you would expect the top class bowling attack they possess can do the job against the inconsistent Renegades lineup.
To Score 50 + Runs – Jason Roy
The international superstar managed to build the foundation the Scorchers needed to get the job done on Thursday night when smacking a 32 ball innings and making 49 runs in just his second game for the Scorchers. The Englishman looked scratchy at the crease at his first game out of quarantine, but certainly brushed off the rust against the Strikers to show he is a force to be reckoned with and we are backing to go one better (literally) on Sunday against the Renegades.
To Hit A Six – Sam Harper
He was one of the Renegades most impressive players in BBL09 but the wicketkeeper batsman has had his struggles in BBL10. With scores of 5, 1, 66*, 8,18 and 7 he will be hoping he can turn around his form pretty quickly. He’s a free flowing sort of batsman and will appreciate the pace of the Optus Stadium wicket, and we’re backing to lob one over the rope at least once against the Scorchers.
