Saturday Slingshot: Horse racing best bets for September 30, 2023

The Saturday Slingshot presented by Bettingsite.com.au is here and it brings you the best bets for horse racing in Australia on Saturday, September 30, 2023 to help you launch into a winning weekend on the punt.

All odds are provided by leading online bookmakers recommended by Bettingsite.com.au

Randwick Race 5: #1 Tom Kitten @ +125

The Listed Dulcify Stakes (1600m) is at set-weight conditions for the three-year-olds, where Tom Kitten looks extremely hard to beat. It sets up beautifully for the Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes (1300m) winner, getting to the mile after a bold effort in the Group 3 Ming Dynasty Quality (1400m). He swooped from an impossible position to secure a third-place finish and the James Cummings-trained colt clocked some impressive closing sectionals doing so. He draws to get a much softer run under Nash Rawiller, and if he runs up to his best here, the set-weight conditions should be a massive favour to his chance.

Mornington Race 8: #3 Miss Galore @ +210

Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr will be looking to add a second-straight win to Miss Galore’s record following a smart win at Geelong when fresh on September 15. She stays at the 1200m and brings some genuine Group-level form lines to this BM70 for fillies and mares. She finished a length off subsequent Group 1 winner Royal Merchant at her last run before heading for a spell, and we expect she will show her class this weekend. From barrier five, Wiremu Pinn can land the one-one, and with even luck as they turn for home, Miss Galore should prove too good.

Eagle Farm Race 7: #6 Beast Mode @ +180

After returning with a dominant win first-up at this track and trip on September 6, Beast Mode from the David Vandyke yard will step up to Saturday Benchmark 75 grade second-up. This son of Better Than Ready has never finished outside of the top two in his six career starts and has been first over the line in four of those runs. With the only other speed influence, Flaming Conquest, drawn outside of this guy, we expect Beast Mode to find the front from barrier six and hold the rail before kicking clear in the final 300m.

Morphettville Race 8: #2 Does It @ +150

Hailing from the Richard & Chantelle Jolly stable, Does It was simply put, a moral beaten last time out. The seven-year-old gelding was strung up badly for a run on September 16 over 2051m at Morphettville, before finding clear air late and going down by less than half a length. He has not won in close to 18 months, but with even luck on Saturday, he should prove to be the superior stayer in a race like this. For a stayer, he has a strong turn of foot and Does It should be bringing up a long overdue win here.

Belmont Race 2: #3 Ruler Rocket @ +100

Ruler Rocket has let the punters down in both of his runs this preparation; however, the Bruce Watkins-trained galloper it yet to miss the placings from his seven career starts. This race appears to be much weaker than his previous two contests, and if he can find his peak, we expect him to find the winner’s circle once again. Troy Turner has ridden this son of Universal Ruler at all his seven starts and jumps on again. Starting from a very nice barrier (2), this could be Ruler Rocket’s last chance for many of his followers.
