All odds are provided by leading online bookmakers recommended by Bettingsite.com.au

Flemington Race 6: #8 Mostly Cloudy @ $2.70

Mostly Cloudy was a good thing licked at Rosehill on July 1 when held up for a run at a crucial point before flashing late to be beaten just over a length. The four-year-old didn’t see clear air until the final 100m and exploded late over the 2400m in a run which screamed out “back me next time”. The former European is already a three-time winner at the 2800m and everything he has done since debuting in Australia suggests he will eat up every bit of the trip on Saturday. Outside of last-start winner Mimi’s Award, there doesn’t look like much that Mostly Cloudy has to beat in the Flemington Cup.

Randwick Race 4: #7 Louisville @ $2.60

Louisville is yet to miss the frame in his six career starts and we’re expecting that trend to continue. He’s been outstanding since joining the Chris Waller team from across the ditch, breaking his maiden second-up before powering through the line at his latest effort at Randwick on June 24. He ran second behind another progressive staying type, Aristonous, and based on what we saw, this son of Redwood should relish the step-up in trip to 1800m. Zac Lloyd takes the reins and gets Louisville into this BM78 affair with a featherlight weight of 52kg on his back. If he can overcome the wide draw, win number two should be heading his way on Saturday.

Eagle Farm Race 7: #2 Blaze A Trail @ $2.30

The Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Blaze A Trail recorded his first victory of this preparation at Doomben on July 8 after finishing in the placings at his previous two starts during the Queensland Racing Carnival. Last start, this son of Criterion was made to travel three wide before letting down with a blistering turn of foot in the final 300m of the 1350m trip to nab Sir Warwick on the winning post. The five-year-old gelding will be on the seven-day backup for the first time in his career, but there is no reason to think he won’t produce a similar performance.

Morphettville Race 9: #2 Jean Valjean @ $3.40

Jean Valjean was racing well in tougher company last campaign than what he faces on the weekend. With a nice first-up record (3: 1-1-0), he looks poised to strike on his return form a five-month spell. The wide barrier (12) is offset by his want to get back and run on, and with Ben Price claiming 1.5kg, this four-year-old gelding will be given every chance to do just that. With 60kg on his back, Jean Valjean just needs to be within striking range on the turn to be taking out this BM62 over 1000m.

Belmont Race 1: #6 Empress Of India @ $3.70

The Dion Luciani-trained Empress Of India was beaten by the barest of margins first-up behind Rupert’s Empire at the Belmont 1000m. Now that she has that run under her belt, draws a nice barrier and gets a 1.5kg weight swing in her favour on Rupert’s Empire, this daughter of Universal Ruler should turn the tables this weekend at the same track and trip. William Pike will have his first ride on this filly, and from barrier two we expect him to have her in a stalking position and ready to pounce in the final 300m.
