Sadler praises Kah after Monster victory

On a day that produced several impressive winners at Bendigo, three-year-old filly Mozzie Monster outshone them all.

The filly will be set for next month’s Group One Thousand Guineas at Caulfield after making it two wins from as many starts with her easy victory in a 1300 metre race for fillies and mares on Wednesday.

Winning trainer John Sadler was effusive in his praise of Mozzie Monster but even moreso of her jockey Jamie Kah after she weaved a passage through the field from last to guide the filly to a runaway 3-1/2 length win.

“I think she’s the most impressive female rider we’ve seen by a long, long way. She’s a star,” Sadler said.

Sadler admitted he was worried by the pattern of racing at Bendigo, which had played to on-pacer runners near the fence, but Kah was able to overcome the bias.

“The best part of her win was late. She really finished off well,” Sadler said.

He confirmed Mozzie Monster would have her next start in the Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) on September 26 at Caulfield.

“I think she will want 1400 metres and the signs are there she’ll handle 1600 metres,” Sadler said.

Kah made it a winning double when she took out the final race on Zousonic, swooping home to win out wide for the Mat Ellerton and Simon Zahra stable.
