Round 11 A-League multi tips, best bets & bookie specials
ROUND 11 of the 2017/18 A-League season kicks off with a blockbuster between Sydney FC and third-placed Melbourne City.
Splitting those two on the ladder are the Newcastle Jets, who host Adelaide United in the early fixture on Saturday evening.
Central Coast Mariners will look to continue their upward trajectory when they take on Western Sydney Wanderers, while bottom-of-the-table Wellington Phoenix must negotiate a long trip to Perth.
Closing out the round on Sunday evening are Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory, both whom are eager to get points on the board and make up ground on the top four.
A-League multi tips – Round 11
- Sydney to win – $1.65
- Jets to win – $2
- Mariners to win – $2
- Roar and Victory to draw – $3.40
Multi odds at Neds.com.au = $22.44
Sydney FC vs. Melbourne City
Friday, December 15, 2017 – 7:50pm AEDT – Allianz Stadium
Sydney – $1.65
Draw – $3.75
City – $5.25
The defending champions claimed ultimate bragging rights with their 5-0 mauling of Wanderers last time out. They face much tougher opposition this week in the form of Melbourne City, who come in off important back-to-back wins over the Jets and the Mariners. Although it is tempting to back City for a NSW hat-trick at bloated odds, our money goes to the side that has won eight of 10 games this season.
Newcastle Jets vs. Adelaide United
Saturday, December 16, 2017 – 5:35pm AEDT – McDonald Jones Stadium
Jets – $2
Draw – $3.50
United – $3.60
The high-flying Jets escaped Perth with the unlikeliest of wins last week, netting twice after the 88-minute mark to pinch the points. Their next test is an Adelaide United outfit that has designs on finals after a 2-1 win over the Victory. The Reds might be the best team outside the top three, but second-placed Newcastle should have them covered at home.
Perth Glory vs. Wellington Phoenix
Saturday, December 16, 2017 – 7pm AWST – NIB Stadium
Glory – $2
Draw – $3.60
Phoenix – $3.50
The Glory let a golden chance slip against Newcastle last weekend, and it is defensive lapses like those that have undercut their attacking potency all season. The Phoenix, on the other hand, have not quite got it right in any department. They drew against Brisbane last time out, but defeat in the west looks the likely outcome for the A-League’s cellar dwellers.
Brisbane Roar vs. Melbourne Victory
Sunday, December 17, 2017 – 7pm AEST – Suncorp Stadium
Roar – $2.80
Draw – $3.40
Victory – $2.40
Although the Roar were held by Wellington, their overall fortunes have improved significantly after a very sluggish start to the season. The Victory are in a similar situation despite losing to Adelaide last week, but they need to pick up the pace soon if they wish to make an impact on finals. Online bookmakers have the visitors as slight favourites, but we reckon it’s too close to call a decisive result either way.
