Roosters secure long-term deal for NRL star David Fifita
The Sydney Roosters have made a move by signing David Fifita, a player known for his impressive performances in Queensland State of Origin and as a Tongan international.
The deal starting in 2025 marks an addition to the team.
At 24 years old, Fifita is recognised for his runs and ability to score tries.
While he had the option to stay with the Gold Coast Titans for two seasons, he decided against it, opting to join the Roosters.
This signing comes at a costly time for the Sydney Roosters as they prepare to bid farewell to Jared Waerea Hargreaves, who is heading to Super League club Hull KR after this season.
Coach Trent Robinson expressed his excitement about having Fifita on board, praising his skills and impact on the NRL game.
Robinson believes that Fifita’s potential is yet to be realised and is looking forward to seeing him shine at their club.
Fifita has had a career in rugby league, playing 44 games for the Brisbane Broncos and then moving to the Titans in 2021, where he has made 69 appearances.
The Roosters are thrilled about signing Fifita.
Coach Robinson made it clear that they were also focused on keeping Angus Crichton, whose contract’s up for renewal.
“There’s still some water to pass under the bridge there with Angus as well. He’s in the best form he’s been in years and years,” Robinson said.
“That’s not the end of the road yet. There hasn’t been any negotiations there or anything, but some discussions.”
The Sydney Roosters addition of David Fifita to their team brings excitement to the NRL seasons as they aim to strengthen their chances of winning the premiership with this dynamic and influential player on board.
