Robbie Fradd rides four winners at Doomben

A blistering display of speed by Most Important has been the centre plank of a winning quartet for former South African jockey Robbie Fradd at Doomben.

Fradd won on Most important ($2.90) and She Our Star ($5) for trainer Tony Gollan, Thunder Road ($21) for Darlene Duryea and La Spiaggia ($10) for Toby Edmonds.

It gave him seven winners for the week after a treble at the Gold Coast on Wednesday.

“The four winners today was my best since moving to Queensland (two years ago). But I have a nine days suspension starting tonight so I can have a rest,” said Fradd, who is an international jockey with 90 Group Ones to his credit.

Gollan has won the past three Brisbane premierships but was trailling Rob Heathcote by five winners (20-15) going into the meeting.

However, he provided a treble with She’s Our Star, Brazen Moss and Most Important who ran only 0.4 seconds outside Takeover Target’s course record for 1200m.

Gollan said Most Important had been a victim of his over-thinking with his recent defeats.

“We had been trying to ride him too pretty,” Fradd said.

“He sweated up very badly before the race so I knew he was ready to race well.

“I think he will well up to winning a feature race in the Brisbane summer carnival.”

Meanwhile, Heathcote believed it was the dry track rather than a return to Doomben which saw his mare Sea Red win.

Sea Red ($5) came from well back at the top of the straight to beat the favourite Testashadow by a half head in the St Columba’s Open (1615m).

“She was very frustrating at her last start when she came home from a mile back to finish fourth,” Heathcote said.

“But Larry (jockey Cassidy) timed his run to perfection today. I think it was more a case of getting back on a dry track and the 1600 metres.”
