Round 9: Richmond vs Bulldogs match preview

Two sides looking to snap their losing streaks face off on Saturday night at the MCG as the Richmond Tigers host the Western Bulldogs in round nine of the AFL.

Last Sunday, the Tigers continued their disappointing start to the year as they went down to the Fremantle Dockers by 54 points. Kicking just one goal in the first half, Adam Yze’s men were never really in the contest.

Down in 17th on the ladder, the Richmond Tigers have been ravished by injury this year, as they have been forced to play more players than any other side.

However, in positive news, the Tigers could have Noah Balta, Dion Prestia and Jack Graham all available to return. This leaves players such as Kamdyn McIntosh, Sam Naismith and Sam Banks at risk of omission.

It was also defeat for the Western Bulldogs last Sunday as they fell to Hawthorn by seven points. After coming in as major favourites with top AFL bookmakers, the Dogs were very disappointing and allowed the inexperience Hawthorn forward line to kick goals at will.

Winning just one of their past five matches, the pressure is rising on coach Luke Beveridge to turn the Dogs’ season around. Coming in as strong favourites at -277.78 with Bet365 this week, this is a big chance to make a statement before a tough run of matches ahead.
