The Melbourne Renegades are set to welcome the Adelaide Strikers to Marvel Stadium on Tuesday evening in Match 3 of BBL11. BettingSite.com.au brings you the best bets and top props for the game as both sides look to kick off their Big Bash League season in style.

Renegades vs Strikers BBL match analysis

The Melbourne Renegades will be looking to bounce back from a shocking BBL10 where they managed only four wins from their 14 matches. They will head into Tuesday’s clash without Nic Maddinson (Australia A), Shaun Marsh (calf) and potentially Aaron Finch (knee) in what is a blow to their already-thin batting line-up. They will be relying on the unknown of Indian signing Unmukt Chand and wicketkeeper Sam Harper at the top of the order, whilst young gun Mackenzie Harvey will come in at first drop. With the likes of Mohammad Nabi and Jake Fraser-McGurk in the middle order, all may not be doom and gloom for the red side of Melbourne.

With Maddinson missing and Finch unlikely to suit up, Kane Richardson will take the reins as skipper and will look to lead from the front with the ball alongside the enigmatic James Pattinson. The Renegades will be hoping their two bulls with the new ball as well as spinners Nabi and Cameron Boyce can restrict a Strikers line-up without Travis Head and Alex Carey, who are both away for the upcoming Ashes series.

Like their opponents, the Adelaide Strikers‘ strength comes when they have ball in hand. With the T20 legend that is Rashid Khan at their disposal and a fast bowling attack that consists of Daniel Worrall, Peter Siddle and Wes Agar, the Strikers will be confident they can deal with whatever the Renegades throw at them. With the addition of Fawad Ahmed to their team, it is hard to see what the Strikers’ weaknesses are with the ball.

However, with both Carey and Head missing from the line-up, the Strikers look to be a touch vulnerable with the bat. They will rely heavily on Matt Renshaw and Jake Weatherald at the top of the order, with the likes of Jono Dean, Matt Short and Harry Nielsen not being the most established batters in the BBL. If both openers go early, then this looks to be an uphill battle for Adelaide.

To score 25+ runs: Sam Harper to score

In a disappointing season for the Renegades, a shining light that came from BBL10 was the progression of Sam Harper. He is as aggressive as they come at the top of the order and will play a huge role on Tuesday with both Aaron Finch and Shaun Marsh expected to be out of action. Harper scored 351 runs at an average of 27 last season, and if the Renegades are to be a winning chance, they need their young keeper-batsman firing on all cylinders. The $2.20 may be shorts, but we expect Harper to light up Marvel on Tuesday night.

Renegades top wicket-taker: James Pattinson

There is little doubt that when firing, James Pattinson is one of the best fast bowlers in the world, no matter the format. Having retired from international cricket, the Renegades will have a fit-and-firing Pattinson throughout BBL11. In 25 bowling innings in the Big Bash, the Victorian quick has 32 wickets at an average of 23 and a strike rate of 16.72. Pattinson will have the new ball swinging around like crazy under the roof of Marvel, and with the Strikers looking vulnerable sans Alex Carey and Travis Head, he may rip through them in the first four overs. The $4 on offer is too good to be true.
