Melbourne Renegades v Melbourne Stars match preview
The Melbourne Renegades are set to play host to the Melbourne Stars at Marvel Stadium on Sunday afternoon as the Big Bash League charges towards the final series.
Having comfortably gotten better of the Renegades last weekend at the MCG, the Stars enter the Melbourne Derby as $1.77 favourites with cricket betting sites.
However, the Melbourne Renegades have since been to Perth and disposed of the Perth Scorchers after overcoming a top-order collapse, thanks to a match-winning kock of 70 off 45 balls by captain Will Sutherland.
The ‘Gades are set to lose the services of Laurie Evans for the rest of the tournament and will need their explosive top order of Josh Brown, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Tom Siefert to get going if they are to topple the Stars.
The green side of Melbourne, the Melbourne Stars, are on a three-game winning streak that includes toppling last year’s champions, the Brisbane Heat, and the other finalist, the Sydney Sixers, either side of beating the Renegades.
On the back of a strong partnership from Glenn Maxwell and Beau Webster, the Stars were able to post a competitive target against the Sixers before the Stars bowlers triggered a remarkable collapse against the pink side of Sydney.

Renegades vs Stars betting predictions
Having easily accounted for the Renegades last Saturday, the Melbourne Stars simply look the better side on paper and leading into the match. With a batting lineup that includes Ben Duckett, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell and Beau Webster, there is firepower wherever you look. Backed up by an in-form bowling attack against a seemingly fragile Renegades batting lineup, the Stars at $1.77 with Marantelli Bet is the smart play.
Outside of a first-ball globe against the Brisbane Heat three games ago, Ben Duckett has been in sensational form over his last five matches. With scores of 68, 67, 67 and 20 in four of his last five digs, the England international will no doubt look to get the Stars off to a flyer once more. With a want to take on the bowling in the four-over Powerplay, the $2.75 with Marantelli Bet to score 30 or more once again is too hard to ignore.
Jake Fraser-McGurk has hardly fired a shot so far in BBL14 but gets his chance in the Melbourne Derby to remind everyone just how good he is. With just two scores of 20+ and five scores under 10, JFM will need to get firing if the Renegades are a chance of making finals. If the explosive right-hander can survive the new ball, Jake Fraser McGurk to score 30 runs or more at $3 looks a steal.
