RCB win heavyweight IPL clash against Capitals to go top

Indian Premier League T20 cricket news

Royal Challengers Bengaluru sit two points clear at the top of the Indian Premier League ladder after beating Delhi Capitals by six wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Monday morning (AEST).

IPL bookmakers had the clash as a pick ‘em pre-match, with both sides priced at $1.91 to win at BetOnline.

Batting first, Delhi were unable to sway live cricket betting odds in their favour, as RCB did well to stifle their dangerous lineup early on.

Abishek Porel (28 from 11) and Faf du Plessis (22 from 26) both made runs at the top of the order but were unable to kick on and score big.

The result was DC sitting at 3/72 at the halfway point of their innings, leaving plenty of work to be done by their middle order if they were to post a competitive total.

KL Rahul (41 from 39) and Tristan Stubbs (34 from 18) did their best, but with little support from the rest of the lineup, Delhi stuttered through to a sub-par 8/162 from their 20 overs.

RCB also had their challenges with the bat, slipping to 3/26 after four overs as Axar Patel (2/19) and Dushmantha Chameera (1/24) made progress tough for the visitors.

However, Virat Kohli (51 from 47) managed to stem the bleeding alongside Krunal Pandya (73* from 47), with some late hitting by Tim David (19* from 5) seeing Bengaluru over the line.

After the match, captain Rajat Patidar praised RCB’s bowlers.

“It was a total team performance, the way bowlers executed on this wickets,” he said.

“We’re not looking at the venues, just trying to play good cricket.

“Chasing gives a lot of clarity about the wicket and we plan accordingly.

“160 was gettable on this surface, it’s not easy to stop them on 160 so credit to all the bowlers.

“We were pretty much clear about the chase.

“It feels great when you lead RCB, there are many great players.”

Despite Bengaluru sitting top of the table, cricket bookmakers have them on the second line of betting to win the 2025 IPL title.

Neds has RCB priced at $4.33, behind Mumbai Indians ($3.50) but ahead of Gujarat Titans ($4.50).
