Racing Queensland lifts race fields fees
Racing Queensland has announced it will increase race fields fees for anyone betting on Queensland meetings from early next year.
RQ announced the increase in a statement on its website
It is in effect a quarter of per cent increase on the existing race field fees and will take effect from February 1.
The statement said it was the first RFF increase since January 2017.
“The modest increase will be followed by a broad review of Queensland’s RFF model which will consider the evolving wagering landscape across Australia. That review will be completed before July 1,” the statement read.
“Racing Queensland needs to be more commercial to support our vast industry across all codes and we have many other critical sustainability priorities which require funding in addition to the recent prize money increases.”
The fee increase follows a decision for Queensland to have the highest gambling Point of Consumption tax in Australia.
Corporate bookmakers have yet to release any statements.
