Queensland Oaks winner Youngstar (right) will head to the Queensland Derby.

Queensland Oaks winner Youngstar will take her place against her male counterparts in the Queensland Derby at Doomben.

Her trainer Chris Waller said he was happy with the filly’s work at the Gold Coast on Tuesday morning and the intention was to run on Saturday.

Her stablemate, Another Dollar, a close second to Youngstar in the Oaks (2200m) on May 26, will be spelled with a view to the spring.

“Youngstar has pulled up well following her win the Group One Queensland Oaks and the decision has been made to push on to Group One Queensland Derby,” Waller said in a statement.

“We will continue to monitor her progress up until Saturday morning as I have been mindful of not overtaxing her, however I was very happy with her gallop this morning and she continues to handle her time in Queensland exceptionally well.”

Waller says there are no issues with Another Dollar who is likely to be set for the Epsom Handicap.

The last filly to complete the Derby/Oaks double was the Peter Moody-trained Riva San in 2008.
