Punters back KO result for Lesnar vs. Hunt at UFC 200
With the Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier fight scrapped after the former failed a drug test, it’s Brock Lesnar and Kiwi-Aussie heavyweight Mark Hunt on the top card in Las Vegas.
According to online bookmaker Sportsbet.com.au, each fighter has drawn almost exactly half of the total money coming in.
But while Hunt is the $1.62 favourite, about 30 per cent more individual bets have gone on WWE star Lesnar.
The favoured result is a win by knockout – $1.72 for Hunt, $3.75 for Lesnar.
“We’ve traditionally seen a lot of patriotic money whenever Mark Hunt steps into the Octagon, but there’s as much money on Brock Lesnar at the bigger price to cause the upset here,” said Sportsbet.com.au’s Christian Jantzen.
Despite the disappointment surrounding the Jones vs. Cormier rematch, punters have plenty of other options on what remains a strong UFC 200 undercard.
Jose Aldo ($1.93) is the slight outsider in his grudge match with Frankie Edgar, who holds a six-cent edge at $1.87 in one of the tightest betting markets on the card.
There’s much less uncertainty surrounding Miesha Tate – a $1.41 favourite to keep her bantamweight title against Amanda Nunes ($2.93).
