Pretty Fast on track for Queensland test

Promising filly Pretty Fast looks set to progress to a black-type debut in Queensland after extending her wining sequence to three at Rosehill.

Co-trainer Paul Snowden indicated the Listed Mode Plate (1200m) at Doomben on December 2 was on the agenda for a $650,000 purchase at the 2016 Magic Millions sales.

“Black-type is always on the cards and she cost quite a bit as a yearling so we might send her up the Highway and try to get some of that while we can,” Snowden said.

Racing in the colours of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Pretty Fast ($6) claimed her first metropolitan start in style on Saturday by winning the ATC Owners Benefit Card Handicap by half-a-length.

Jockey Tye Angland bided his time behind pace setter and $2.70 favourite Easy Eddie before drawing level at the 100 and pulling clear.

A fast-finishing Heliosphere ($5) was third, a short neck further back.

“It took a little bit of time for her to get the first win on the board but she backed it up with a nice solid performance and obviously it has got her confidence back up,” Snowden said.

Angland, who rode a treble on his home track at Hawkesbury midweek, was always confident Pretty Fast would complement a brace of wins at Newcastle.

“I thought the leader was just doing too much, I sat well off him and and Jay (Ford) seemed to struggle with him to get to relax so I was pretty confident I was going to pick him up,” Angland said.

“She’s going so well this prep. She’s not much to look at but she feels well when she lets down.”
