Patty Mills signs with Utah Jazz for his 16th NBA season
Australian basketball sensation Patty Mills has officially inked a one-year contract with the Utah Jazz, marking his 16th season in the NBA.
The seasoned 36-year-old point guard, who recently showcased his talents at the Paris Olympics, is set to join his NBA team following stints with the Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs, Brooklyn Nets, Atlanta Hawks, and Miami Heat.
Mills return to the court brings him back under the guidance of San Antonio Spurs coach Will Hardy, now at the helm of Utah.
While not anticipated to be a standout star for the Jazz, Mills veteran presence is expected to play a role in mentoring emerging guards Keyonte George and Isaiah Collier.
Former Boomers and NBA player Ryan Broekhoff expressed confidence in Mills impact on the basketball team:
“Patty has done enough in the NBA for teams to know who he is,” Broekhoff said to Herald Sun.
Having clinched an NBA championship with the Spurs in 2014, Mills will now lend his expertise and leadership to a Jazz squad undergoing reformation following Donovan Mitchell’s departure.
His wealth of experience promises to be instrumental as Utah focuses on nurturing its talent pool, while the top online bookmakers currently have them at $501 odds.
