Friday night football in round 11 of the 2023 NRL season wraps up in Penrith with the Panthers hosting the Sydney Roosters at BlueBet Stadium.
The Penrith Panthers have been fortunate to name an unchanged line-up after their controversial win over the Warriors in Magic Round. However, it should be noted that Liam Martin is named in the reserves and could be a late inclusion prior to kick off.
The Roosters have been forced to make a change in their forward pack following an upset loss to the Cowboys last weekend, with Egan Butcher (concussion) being replaced by Angus Crichton. This sees Fletcher Baker promoted to the interchange bench, while Sam Walker is still named in the reserves.
The Roosters’ form of late has been poor, whereas the Panthers have improved over the last month despite injuries and losing several stars to other clubs in the off-season. The Panthers have not played at their home ground for over a month, and in front of their home fans they should go on to secure a win at $1.50 odds with the best NRL betting sites.
Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii has come in for plenty of criticism in recent weeks, and the Panthers’ right edge of Nathan Cleary, Stephen Crichton and Brian To’o will surely look to target the out-of-form Roosters centre. The argument could be made all three should be starting for the New South Wales Blues in the upcoming State of Origin series, while the soon-to-be Wallabies star’s name has fallen sharply from contention. Look for Cleary to exploit any weakness shown by Suaalii through Crichton ($2.20) and To’o ($1.95), who look sure to score a try at some stage in the game.
The Panthers’ return to BlueBet Stadium will likely bring a sell-out crowd that will demand a commanding performance from their beloved side. In dry, cool conditions, with Penrith building towards full strength, the home side alone could score enough points to exceed the 37.5 line for the match ($1.90).
Key matchup: Cleary v Manu

The battle on the Panthers’ defensive right edge will be a brilliant contest. Joseph Manu is one of the most damaging players in rugby league on his day, but he’s struggled to find his running game this season while missing too many tackles in defence. Nathan Cleary will be hyper-aware of this, pushing his own running game as well as bringing Zac Hosking and Stephen Crichton onto the football. If Manu cannot improve this weekend, the Roosters’ left edge could be in for a long night in Penrith.
