Outsider Gatting wins Makybe Diva Stakes
Perth-trained Gatting has upstaged Cox Plate favourite Mystic Journey in a weight-for-age upset to the Makybe Diva Stakes.
Sent out one of the outsiders of the field at $101 at his eastern states debut, Gatting hit the lead at the 200m for jockey Jamie Kah and held on bravely to claim the Group One race.
Mystic Journey, chasing her eighth win in a row, held down second with Queensland Derby winner Mr Quickie finishing in the minor placing.
