The Socceroos will look to win their second consecutive 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifier match this Wednesday when they face off against Oman in Muscat.
Australia currently sits third in the Group B standings behind Saudi Arabia and Japan, while Oman trails by seven points in fourth position.
The top two finishers in both Group A and Group B will directly qualify for Qatar, whilst the two countries who finish third will face off for a place in an intercontinental playoff.
Graham Arnold’s men will be very eager to knock off Oman and return home with momentum before their next scheduled match against Japan, which could ultimately decide the final Group B standings.
Oman has not won a match since hosting Vietnam back in October, when the home side came away with a 3-1 victory.
The Socceroos are coming off a very convincing 4-0 result against Vietnam, and the team’s strength has been further boosted in Muscat with Aziz Behich and Ajdin Hrusic rejoining the main group.
Online bookmakers have installed the Aussies as short-priced favourites for this clash away from home, but the Oman side is still dangerous enough to cause an upset.

Anytime goalscorer: Tom Rogic
Anytime goalscorer: Tom Rogic
One of the main reasons the Socceroos beat Vietnam at AAMI Park was because Tom Rogic was everywhere in the front half. The Celtic playmaker started off the contest with a disallowed goal in the opening 20 seconds, but that did not deter him. Rogic set up a chance for Mathew Leckie which he could not convert, but the Canberra product finally scored his own goal as the first half came to an end. We think Rogic will spend more time up the ground on Wednesday and slot another WCQ goal.

Both teams to score: Yes
Australia and Oman clashed in Qatar back in October last year, when the Socceroos were able to win 3-1 despite the neutral venue. Of Australia’s last five outings, both sides have score in three, while both teams have scored in all of Oman’s third-round qualifying matches – excluding games against the very strong Japan and Saudi Arabia. We think the trend will continue this week in Muscat as both teams will put a score on the board.

Same game multi: 3 legs @ $10.75
We are backing in the Aussies to secure an important victory against Oman this Wednesday, but we do not think it will be as easy as the Vietnam match. Oman will compete well with the Socceroos and keep it tight, but a Tom Rogic goal will be the difference in the end.
