Not guilty pleas in Aquanita case

Most of those involved in the Aquanita racing case have pleaded not guilty with trainer Tony Vasil wanting the charge against him dismissed.

Group One-winning trainer Robert Smerdon has reserved his position in terms of a plea but most of the other seven people charged in the bi-carb case have pleaded not guilty.

Stable staff Greg and Denise Nelligan do not intend to participate in the case, the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board heard on Thursday.

Vasil’s lawyer has asked for his client to be given the opportunity to argue that the charge against him be dismissed.
