Noblet with good chances at Sandown

A trip to Perth is unlikely for Silent Sedition who is instead set to run in the Group Three Summoned Stakes at Sandown.

Silent Sedition won two stakes races during her three-year-old season and was second in the Group One Australasian Oaks while so far this spring she has been placed in her two starts in Group company.

Silent Sedition ran an eye-catching second to Sheidel first-up at Caulfield before finishing third in a 1400m Group Three race for mares at Flemington as favourite.

She holds a nomination for the Railway Stakes in Perth but trainer Andrew Noblet felt the mare needed to be dominant last start to warrant the trip.

He said at this stage the plan was to stay home and run in Saturday’s Summoned Stakes in which Silent Sedition has the outside barrier in the field of 16.

“She just got chasing from a fair way out (last start) and probably the hard run first-up might have just taken the edge off her,” Noblet said.

“She’s come through that really well and she goes into a suitable race on Saturday although I would rather it was 1600 metres and not 1500.”

Silent Sedition’s stablemate Super Cash is the only mare in the Kevin Heffernan Stakes (1300m), her first attempt at weight-for-age.

Super Cash won at Caulfield and ran fourth in a Group Three straight race at Flemington last Saturday week when she came down the inside section of the track with the three placegetters on the outside.

“She did all the donkey work on the inside and still beat those horses easily. I thought she went great,” Noblet said.

Given Super Cash’s liking for the straight at Flemington, Noblet said the Newmarket Handicap would be an autumn goal.

“I know it’s a hard race but she’s a good horse down the straight and she would have no weight on her back, so it might be a viable option for her,” he said.

The trainer also has debutant two-year-old Another Demon in Saturday’s Merson Cooper Stakes.

Another Demon is out of Alma’s Angel and hails from a family close to Noblet.

Alma’s Angel is an unraced half-sister to stakes winners Sistine Angel and Sistine Demon, both trained by Noblet.
