NFL Week 6 Betting Preview, Tips & Odds: Sunday, October 15
Week six of the NFL season is upon us, and this Sunday will feature a packed slate of 13 games. Here are our best picks of the bunch.
Tennessee Titans vs Baltimore Ravens
This game, played in London, should be a tight contest between two solid teams. The Ravens should win this game, but if they do, it will have to be through the air. Tennessee have been very solid defending the rush since the beginning of last year but have been horrible against the pass. As a result, we will take the under on Ravens QB Lamar Jackson’s rushing yards. While he is a prolific scrambler and has cleared this number in three of five games, this is a bad matchup.
Lamar Jackson Under 42.5 Rushing Yards
Chicago Bears vs Minnesota Vikings
This is going to be a fun game between two bad teams. While each squad sits with a 1-4 record, both teams boast a good offense and a horrible defence. As a result, we should see a lot of points in what projects to be an entertaining game. That being said, the Vikings will be without their best offensive player, Justin Jefferson, and his absence will be a big problem for Minnesota. While it may not show up against a bad Bears’ defence, it will be enough of a factor for us to pick the home underdogs.
Chicago Bear +2.5
Cincinnati Bengals vs Seattle Seahawks
Well, it looks like the Bengals may be back. After four weeks of terrible offensive performances, the reigning AFC runner-ups scored 34 points last weekend, and it appears like Joe Burrow and this offence figured something out. Against a bad Seahawks defense, they should have a field day. While Seattle is solid offensively, we don’t think their defence will hold up in this spot, and the Bengals should continue to play well and cover the spread in the process.
Cincinnati Bengals -2.5
Miami Dolphins vs Carolina Panthers
This game, between the 4-1 Miami Dolphins and the winless Carolina Panthers, has all the makings of a blowout. And if that happens, Miami will run the ball a lot. The Dolphins have already rushed for a whopping 12 touchdowns this season, and while Salvon Ahmed is the backup, Miami rotates their running backs a lot, and Ahmed should be involved. Miami should be up throughout this game, and Ahmed will be trusted to help close out the game. At +245, this is a great value bet with the top betting sites.
Salvon Ahmed Anytime Touchdown Scorer
San Francisco 49ers vs Cleveland Browns
The Niners look unstoppable offensively and have scored at least 30 points in every game. In this game, though, they will not be able to run the ball as easily as they have, and they will have to throw in order to beat this stout Browns defence. And that means Brandon Aiyuk will get a ton of targets. The Niners’ receiver has improved with each passing season, and this year, he has elevated his play to an elite level. He has two touchdowns through four games, and we like his odds to get his third in this spot.
Brandon Aiyuk Anytime Touchdown Scorer
New York Jets vs Philadelphia Eagles
This should actually be a pretty fun game. The Jets, while 2-3, have been very solid defensively and have looked better offensively in recent weeks. While their opponent, the Philadelphia Eagles, are still undefeated, this is too many points to give the Jets at home. New York have beaten the Bills and lost to the Chiefs by three points. They covered both games against those two elite teams, and they should do it again here.
New York Jets +7
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions, perennially one of the worst teams in the NFL, look like a different squad this year and could be pushing for a Super Bowl run. Their offence cannot be stopped, and that shouldn’t change here. Because of that, Tampa Bay will have to pass the ball a ton in order to keep up with them, and Mike Evans should get a bunch of targets. The future hall of famer has three touchdowns through four games this season, and he is clearly QB Baker Mayfield’s favourite target. At +145, this is a great value bet.
Mike Evans Anytime Touchdown Scorer
Buffalo Bills vs New York Giants
This is going to be a gross game where Buffalo should win with ease. That being said, the Giants will finally return Saquon Barkley, and he will provide a boost to this lackluster Giants offence. In Saquon’s last healthy game with the Giants, the offence scored 31 points. In the three games he missed, the Giants’ offence has scored… 31 points. While Buffalo is very talented, their defence is very injured right now, and the Giants should score enough to cover in this Sunday Night feature.
New York Giants +14
