Nepal’s cricket team shatters records with historic win in T20
Nepal’s cricket team made history at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, with a remarkable victory over Mongolia by a massive margin of 273 runs. This outstanding win sets a new record for the largest-ever margin in T20 international cricket, surpassing the previous achievement by the Czech Republic with a 257-run triumph over Turkey.
Nepal’s batting lineup proved to be absolutely unstoppable, posting a formidable total of 314 runs and becoming the first team to exceed the 300-run mark in T20I cricket.
Leading the charge was the young talent, Kushal Malla, who achieved a century in just 34 balls, making it the fastest T20I hundred ever recorded. Malla’s stunning innings included an impressive tally of 12 sixes and eight fours, completely eclipsing the previous record for the fastest T20I century.
Not to be outshoned, Dipendra Singh Airee showcased his power-hitting skills as he reached his half-century in just nine balls, breaking Yuvraj Singh’s previous record. Airee’s explosive knock featured a remarkable eight sixes out of the ten balls he faced.
Nepal’s aggressive batting display resulted in an incredible 26 sixes during their innings, surpassing Afghanistan’s previous record of 22. This remarkable exhibition of hitting power propelled Nepal to achieve their highest team total in T20 cricket.
In response, Mongolia’s batting lineup struggled against Nepal’s formidable bowling attack, managing only 41 runs before being dismissed. Nepal’s bowlers, including Karan KC, Avinash Bohra, and Sandeep Lamichhane, each took two wickets, leaving Mongolia in a dire situation.
This remarkable win not only sets a new record but also represents a significant moment for Nepal’s cricket team as they continue to demonstrate their growing strength and potential on the international stage.
Looking ahead to the tournament, Nepal is set to face the Maldives in their next match, while cricket powerhouses like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh await the winners of the group matches in the quarter-finals.
