NBL Round 9 odds, multi tips and betting predictions
A shorter round of NBL action will see only five matches played this week, leaving Melbourne United as the only team to feature twice.
We are on a roll here at BettingSite.com.au, as our NBL Round 8 multi bet paid out after LaMelo Ball made international headlines with a triple-double for the Illawarra Hawks in their victory over the Cairns Taipans.
If you are going to mark down two NBL games in your calendar this week, they should be New Zealand’s clash with Illawarra and the championship preview between the Sydney Kings and Melbourne United.
WEEK ON THE PUNT: BULLS STUN HORNETS AS LAMELO STARS IN NBL
RJ Hampton and the Breakers will host LaMelo and the Hawks for the second time this season, where both young stars will want to outshine the other.
In Sunday’s main event, the two favourites to win the 2019-20 NBL Championship will meet once again as the Kings welcome United to Qudos Bank Arena.
Here’s what to look out for in the upcoming round of Aussie basketball, including the latest multi odds on offer at BS’s top-ranked NBL betting sites.

NBL Round 9 betting predictions
Taipans vs United: Cairns to win @ $2.64 with Sportsbet
This is the most interesting match of the round due to the Taipans’ up and down form. Earlier in the season the Taipans beat Melbourne despite one of the worst shooting percentages ever recorded by a starting five in the NBL. The Cairns starters went 4/25 from beyond the arc and still won. If United allow the Taipans to put up 25 three-point attempts this time around, the result will go the same way. When the Taipans find a team they can beat, they often get the job done multiple times.
Breakers vs Hawks: New Zealand to win @ $1.67 with Sportsbet
It will be very difficult for the Hawks to beat the Breakers in New Zealand, especially when you consider how the visitors fared last time. NZ made minced meat of Illawarra, winning by 31 points in an emphatic display. RJ Hampton will want to showcase his strengths against fellow American gun LeMelo Ball and help the Breakers end their losing streak.
Kings vs United: Sydney to win @ $1.67 with Sportsbet
Andrew Bogut and Casper Ware have gelled well for a Sydney side that looks the best bet for the championship, although this battle against Melbourne United will be their toughest test yet. We are lucky that the fixture matched up these in-form teams at the right time of the season, as it gives us a preview of what might occur at the pointy end of the playoffs. The Kings will win this match because Melbourne can struggle on the road and will be playing for the second time in Round 9.
Wildcats vs 36ers: Perth to win @ $1.34 with Sportsbet
The Perth Wildcats and Adelaide 36ers are the poster boys of inconsistency this season, winning every few weeks in upsets and failing to convert favouritism into wins. Having played only one home game in their past seven matches, the Wildcats will enjoy the home court advantage over the 36ers, who lost to Perth in Adelaide only two weeks ago. Bryce Cotton is the leading MVP candidate at $5 with Sportsbet and will lead Perth to victory this week.
