Mumbai Indians top IPL title betting after smashing Sunrisers

Indian Premier League T20 cricket news

Mumbai Indians are the new favourites to win the 2025 Indian Premier League title after thrashing Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Thursday morning (AEST).

Hardik Pandya, after winning the toss, put Hyderabad in to bat first. What followed was an absolute demolition by Mumbai’s bowlers, who put the hosts on the backfoot right away.

SRH went on to score the lowest powerplay total of the season — 4/24 — with Trent Boult (4/26) and Deepak Chahar (2/12) spearheading the destruction as Mumbai proved they deserved their pre-match favourites tag across cricket betting sites.

The hosts’ top order collapsed like a deck of cards, with Abhishek Sharma (8 from 8), Travis Head (0 from 4), Ishan Kishan (1 from 4) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (2 from 6) all falling early.

The duo of Heinrich Klaasen (71 from 44) and Abhinav Manohar (43 from 37) fought back, however, stitching together a partnership of 99 runs from 63 balls that helped SRH post a respectable total of 8/143 from their 20 overs.

SRH bowlers did get an early breakthrough as Jaydev Unadkat got Ryan Rickelton for 11, but what followed was a batting masterclass from former MI skipper Rohit Sharma (70 from 46).

With Suryakumar Yadav adding 40 from 19, Mumbai claimed their fourth consecutive win — despite Rohit falling in the penultimate over of the chase.

“Good to have a win,” MI captain Pandya said.

“Glad the boys are taking the momentum in the right way.

“I’ve felt, once everyone starts clicking in this team, there will be domination.

“Deepak, Boult set it up; Rohit, SKY (Suryakumar) finished it.”

As the playoff race heats up, five‑time champions Mumbai Indians are now paying just $3.75 to win the title across IPL bookmakers.

Gujarat Titans ($4.50) hold the second line of betting at PlayUp, followed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals at $5.50 apiece.

MI head into their next match as $1.58 favourites against Lucknow Super Giants, who are $2.25 underdogs on Picklebet.
