More Brisbane black-type in store for Kah

Leading Adelaide jockey Jamie Kah will be reunited with CantBuyBetter at Doomben.

Adelaide jockey Jamie Kah has many chances to win another Brisbane stakes race including the Ben Currie-trained Cantbuybetter in the Listed Bernborough Handicap.

Kah produced a class ride to steer Cantbuybetter to a strong win in the Listed Brisbane Handicap (1600m) on December 9.

Adelaide’s premier jockey, Kah has made several visits to Brisbane recently to ride in the Origin Jockeys Challenge and for trainer Tony McEvoy.

Among her full book on Saturday is the McEvoy-trained Crockett in the Group Three B J McLachlan Stakes (1200m).

Currie missed Cantbuybetter’s Brisbane Handicap win while on holiday in Hong Kong but has watched the replay more than a few times.

“Jamie did a great job to get the run to win on Cantbuybetter so when she was available why wouldn’t we stick with her,” Currie said.

He had originally been planning to take Cantbuybetter to Perth or Sydney for feature races but decided to stay home.

“The Bernborough is a $300,000 race so it is a big incentive to stay on home turf and he I think he has a real chance of another win,” Currie said.

McEvoy believes Crockett will have benefited from his first-up second to Magic Millions Classic favourite EF Troop last Satruday week.

Crockett is a $15 chance for the Magic Millions Classic (1200m) on January 13.
