Money coming for Marmelo in Melbourne Cup

English stayer Marmelo continues to firm in Melbourne Cup betting.

English horse Marmelo is a firming Melbourne Cup favourite with the TAB taking a $30,000 bet at that price.

The Hughie Morrison-trained Marmelo displaced last year’s winner Almandin at the top of the market on Sunday and has been well supported since, firming to $7.50 on Tuesday.

He will be ridden by Hugh Bowman in Tuesday’s Cup with the star jockey yet to register a win in Australia’s most famous race.

Almandin, to be ridden by Frankie Dettori, is the $9 second favourite to give owner Lloyd Williams his sixth Cup win.
