Miss Vista wins first-up at Caulfield

Interstate fans are likely to see popular Victorian mare Miss Vista after the sprinter made a winning return at Caulfield.

Miss Vista has gained plenty of attention in her career because of her unique white markings and the four-year-old has ability to match her looks.

Miss Vista, a bay horse with a baldy white face and four white socks, took her record to four wins from five starts in restricted grade with an all-the-way victory over 1100m in Saturday’s Bert Bryant Handicap.

Trainer George Osborne is considering taking the mare to Sydney next for a benchmark race in three weeks before a possible tilt at a stakes race in either Brisbane or Adelaide.

“She’s a wonderful mare and hopefully we can continue to keep her in good shape,” Osborne said.

The speedy Miss Vista bounced to the front in her first attempt over 1100m and the $4.40 favourite kicked three lengths clear before holding on to beat Grey Street by a long neck.

Chase The Horizon was another 1-3/4 lengths away.

Osborne was hoping Miss Vista would settle better than she did but said the mare just wanted to race and get the job done.

“The last fifty metres was a bit dicey but she did a great job,” the trainer said.
