A Melbourne Derby kicks off the new year at the MCG, with the in-form Melbourne Stars hosting the Melbourne Renegades on Tuesday evening for Match 23 of the Big Bash League season.

The Melbourne Renegades recorded their first win of the season on Friday in stylish fashion, thanks to a few standout performances. Afghanistan international Mujeeb Ur Rahman was the best on the ground with the ball in hand, taking three wickets in his four overs, conceding just 20 runs, and bowling 13 dot balls. The Melbourne Stars started their BBL13 season looking like they may never win a game all summer. That was until a four-wicket win over the Sixers in Sydney, led by Pakistan imports Haris Rauf and Usama Mir, began a three-match winning streak. The Stars beat the Hurricanes in Hobart before belting the Strikers in Adelaide on New Year’s Eve. Englishman Dan Lawrence and Beau Webster got the run-chase off to a solid start before player-of-the-match Marcus Stoinis returned to his devastating best form, smashing 55 runs from 19 balls with six 4’s and four 6’s.
