Godolphin’s Kementari could clash with The Everest winner Redzel in the Manikato Stakes.

Kementari has tuned up for a return to sprint racing with an impressive barrier trial at Randwick ahead of the Group One Manikato Stakes (1200m).

Redzel, winner of Saturday’s $13 million Everest, is also entered for the Manikato on October 26 but could be saved for the Darley Classic on on November 10.

Last season’s Randwick Guineas winner, Kementari has yet to win from four starts this preparation during which he has run close seconds in the Group Two Missile Stakes (1200m) and Group One Memsie Stakes (1400m) either side of a fourth in the Winx Stakes (1400m).

He has been freshened since his fourth in the Group One Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington last month and stepped out in a 1050m barrier trial on Monday wearing blinkers.

With Glyn Schofield aboard, Kementari was held together in the run to the post on the heavy track, cruising home to finish second to Poetic Charmer in one of five heats run before rain forced another eight to be cancelled..

Godolphin trainer James Cummings has confirmed plans to aim Kementari at the $1 million weight-for-age Manikato (1200m) at Moonee Valley.

TAB fixed odds has Kementari as the $5.50 favourite in its all-in market ahead of Redzel at $7 and three-year-old filly Sunlight is at $8.
