Kenny Bromwich confident in Dolphins’ pre-season boost for 2025
Kenny Bromwich believes that an increase in the Dolphins’ pre-season standards will lead to improved results over the 2025 NRL season.
The club narrowly missed out on the top eight this year, falling one match short and finishing 10th overall, and are at $1.30 across rugby league betting sites to miss out again in 2025.
However, with a change in coach and a harder than usual pre-season, the veteran forward is confident it will be third-time lucky for the Brisbane-based side.
“You can’t keep doing the same thing and expect a different result,” he said.
“I think we are trying to get everybody a little bit fitter, that’ll probably be the main goal of this pre-season, get everybody fitter and then go from there.
“Pre-season’s been really, really hard at the moment, the standards have probably picked up a bit I reckon.
“Training’s been a bit harder, everything’s just gone up a notch.
“Standards have gone a bit up and I think it should make a difference.”
Despite a competitive first two seasons in the NRL, the Dolphins are on the second-to-last line of betting to win the Premiership heading into 2025, with BlondeBet paying $51 for the club to claim their maiden title.
These long NRL odds do not phase Bromwich, however, who says that the early return of Isaiya Katoa and Kodi Nikorima from representative rugby has driven others to step up in the squad.
“I think it lifts the standard of our training; I think those boys played quite a lot of footy and know what to do and know what to expect,” he said.
“So, when they come early to training, it kind of lifts all the other boys around them and makes training sessions a bit better.
“It just makes everyone better.
“I don’t expect them to come back early, but it’s really good to see them come back early.
“It just shows where they want to be at as a footy player and where this club wants to be as a club.”
The Dolphins begin their season as a $2.45 outsider with the top Australian bookmakers against the South Sydney Rabbitohs on March 7, 2025.
