Kah takes series final at Doomben
Trainer Jack Duncan promoted himself to president of the Jamie Kah fan club after the Adelaide based jockey won the $100,000 Provincial Series final on Stonecast at Doomben.
Stonecast was backed from $21 into $16 before finishing strongly along the fence to beat the very unlucky Dapper One ($10).
The final is the culmination of series of races at provincial tracks over the past two months and Stonecast had finished fourth at his previous start at the Sunshine Coast.
Duncan was quick to get Kah for Stonecast when he heard she was returning to Brisbane for Saturday’s meeting.
Kah rode in the recent Jockeys Origin series in Brisbane and also won the Listed Brisbane Hcp on Cantbuybetter two weeks ago.
“I have always been in the Kah fan club because I always back her in Adelaide races. But now I am president. That was a great run along the fence,” Duncan said.
“Stonecast likes a bit of give in the track and he was suited today.
Robbie Fradd said Dapper One was most unlucky after being caught deep.
“When you draw so wide there isn’t much you can do but it was a great run,” Fradd said.
