Junglized to step up at Rosehill

Brad Widdup is looking to continue his perfect start to his training career with two-year-old Junglized.

Widdup left his senior position with Godolphin earlier this month to train in his own right at Damion Flower’s Platinum Park facility at Hawkesbury.

Last Friday he saddled up his first runner Junglized at Canberra and the colt got the job done, leading all the way to win over 1080m.

Junglized is one of 19 entries for Saturday’s two-year-old plate (1200m) and Widdup is hopeful rather than overly confident.

To aid the cause he has engaged leading Sydney apprentice Anderw Adkins to take 1-1/2 kilograms off his back.

“It’s a big jump to Saturday company,” Widdup said.

“But he’s come through the race at Canberra really well and if he doesn’t run on Saturday there isn’t another suitable race for him until June 24.

“We’ll claim with him and we’ve got Sydney’s leading apprentice so that will help.”

Widdup has 19 horses in work with others in the spelling paddock and some younger ones ready to begin their build-ups to the new season.

“There’s room for 33 horses here and it’s a great set-up,” Widden said.

“This is what I’ve always wanted to do.

“I’ve been schooled for it all but it’s a different type of pressure when it’s your own name in the book.”

The Gary Portelli-trained Falconic is the 58kg topweight for the race with Junglized on 55.5kg.
