Jones to undergo burns surgery

Scott Jones, the manager of the Lismore Turf Club, is in a Brisbane Hospital where he will be treated for serious burns suffered in a gas explosion at the track.

Jones suffered burns to 45 per cent of his body in the explosion on Thursday morning.

Racing NSW said Jones was in intensive care at the Royal Brisbane Hospital and would have skin graft surgery on Friday.

He is expected to be in hospital for at least eight weeks.

The Northern Star reported Jones had managed to make his way to the jockeys’ showers after the incident.

Investigations into the explosion are ongoing.
