Group One-winning jockey Joe Bowditch is set to miss the spring after being injured in a fall.

The spring aspirations of Group One-winning jockey Joe Bowditch have been dealt a blow with scans showing a neck fracture following a fall at Sale.

Bowditch was one of four jockeys to fall at Sale on Wednesday with apprentices Chris Caserta and Thomas Stockdale on the injured list.

Michael Walker escaped injury, riding in jump-outs at Flemington before the Ballarat meeting on Friday.

Bowditch was originally cleared of a clavicle fracture and was thought to be suffering soft tissue damage.

But the Victorian Jockeys’ Association said on Friday, Bowditch had undergone further scans which revealed he had sustained a stable fracture in his neck and a fractured left clavicle requiring between two and three months on the sidelines.

Caserta suffered a fracture of the C5 vertebra, a bruised lung and concussion with an expected recovery time of six weeks.

Stockdale fractured the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot and will be in a moon boot for six to eight weeks while he was also concussed and suffered facial lacerations.
