The Wests Tigers have unveiled their leadership team for the 2025 NRL season, appointing superstar recruit Jarome Luai and incumbent captain Api Koroisau as co-captains.

The announcement reflects the club’s determination to rise from recent struggles under head coach Benji Marshall.

Luai, a four-time premiership winner with Penrith, joins the Tigers on a marquee deal and brings international leadership experience as captain of Samoa.

The 28-year-old playmaker, who grew up a Tigers fan, expressed his pride at stepping into the role.

“Being named captain of the Wests Tigers with Api is an honour I don’t take lightly,” Luai said.

“Api has set an incredible standard as a leader, and I’m excited to work alongside him again and contribute to building something special here.”

Koroisau, who joined the Tigers in 2023, has captained the side for two seasons and consistently delivered standout performances despite the team’s challenges.

The three-time premiership winner highlighted the rugby league club’s potential and his enthusiasm for working with Luai in the shared role.

“It’s a privilege to captain this club, and to now share that role with Jarome is really exciting,” Koroisau said.

“Over the past two years, I’ve seen firsthand the potential we have, and I’m confident we’re heading in the right direction.”

The two captains are no strangers to success, having played together during the Panthers’ 2021 and 2022 premiership triumphs.

Tigers coach Benji Marshall believes their blend of stability and flair will galvanise the team.

“Api has been a phenomenal leader for this club over the past two years, and his respect within the team is second to none,” Marshall said.

“Adding Jarome’s passion and creativity to our leadership structure makes this partnership really exciting. Together, they bring a balance of stability and flair that will drive our team forward in 2025.”

The Tigers will begin their campaign against the Newcastle Knights on March 7, where they currently are a $1.70 chance of winning with the top NRL bookmakers.

With significant off-season signings and a clear vision for the future, Luai and Koroisau’s co-captaincy is set to usher in an exciting new chapter for the club.
