Kicking off the New Year’s Day double-header, the Hobart Hurricanes and the Sydney Thunder face off at Blundstone Arena. Here are our free betting tips and match preview for Match 21 of the Big Bash Season:

The Hobart Hurricanes are sat on the bottom of the standings after just one game from their four matches so far. In their last match, they fell to the Melbourne Stars by seven wickets after a poor bowling effort in their rain affected clash. With no batsmen scoring over 100 runs so far in BBL 13, there are major concerns over the output of their explosive batting line-up. There is also on the bowling attack and their lack of wicket, as they have just 12 wickets in four matches.

Sitting just one point above the Hurricanes, the Sydney Thunder also have just one win this season, as they were saved by the rain in their clash against the Sixers on Saturday. However, unlike the Hurricanes, the Thunder rank very well statistically but have been unable to put together a full team performance. With the close odds and the past five matches between the sides having alternating winners, there is no stand-out side in this clash. Neither team has been very impressive so far in BBL 13, but early wickets are key as both top orders are incredibly dangerous. The Thunder have looked slightly better this season, but with the Hurricanes winning six of their past eight at Blundstone Arena, it is hard to look past the home side.
