Hawks drift in flag betting following Mitchell’s season-ending injury
HAWTHORN’S premiership chances have taken a nose dive in the eyes of online bookmaker Sportsbet after the club confirmed reigning Brownlow Medallist Tom Mitchell broke his leg at training on Friday.
The Hawks have drifted out to the $26 quote with the online bookmakers following the injury, with Mitchell completely removed from Brownlow betting markets after being at the head of affairs.

News broke early on Friday that Mitchell was taken to hospital with a suspected broken leg. Hawthorn officials confirmed the injury after the news broke, stating Mitchell is unlikely to return 2019.
“For Tom to suffer an injury like this is incredibly disappointing for both him and our footy club,” Hawthorn general manager Graham Wright said.
“He will undergo surgery over the weekend and as a result will most likely miss the 2019 season.
“However, Tom is a very resilient young man and we have no doubt that he will tackle his rehab with the same professionalism and diligence with which he approaches his training.”
The loss of Mitchell also impacted top 8 betting at online bookmaker BetEasy.
The Hawks are now at $2 to make the 2019 AFL finals series.
