Brownlow Medal 2024 betting tips, top picks & best value bets
Who will take out the 2024 Brownlow Medal?
The winner of the AFL’s most prestigious individual award has not always been easy to pick, as highlighted when Brisbane’s Lachie Neale won it last year with odds of $13.
This year, top online bookmakers are predicting a two-horse race between Collingwood’s Nick Daicos and Carlton’s Patrick Cripps, but as history suggests, anything could happen.
BettingSite.com.au has scoured the Brownlow Medal betting markets and come up with half a dozen of the best bets for this year’s award.
Patrick Cripps (Carlton)
Leading from the front throughout this season, Patrick Cripps was incredibly consistent for the Blues despite their mixed performances. In a team full of stars, the skipper regularly stood tallest, but a major concern is how the likes of Charlie Curnow and Harry McKay will poll as key forwards. Cripps’ chances in this count will also depend on how he polls in losses.
Patrick Cripps to win
Nick Daicos (Collingwood)
Collingwood midfielder Nick Daicos finished third in last year’s Brownlow count, but that was in a team that went on to win the premiership. Expect Daicos to make a move from rounds 8-12, while he had potential best-on-ground performances in four of the last five matches. With injuries plaguing the Magpies throughout the season, don’t expect many teammates to steal votes off him in victories.

Lachie Neale (Brisbane)
After a slow start to the season, Brisbane skipper Lachie Neale could potentially poll in nine out of 11 games from round 10 onwards. The two-time Brownlow winner has been tagged out of a few games this season, while the likes of Hugh McCluggage and Josh Dunkley may steal votes in the midfield. However, the main threat to Neale could be half-back Dayne Zorko and key forward Joe Daniher.

Marcus Bontempelli (Western Bulldogs)
Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli has finished second in two of the last three Brownlow Medal counts, and he is expected to feature prominently once again. This year, however, he faces some stiff internal competition from Adam Treloar, who averaged over 31 disposals per game in the Doggies’ midfield. ‘Bont’ is expected to poll well in the last four rounds, so if he can stay within touching distance, he could be a late bolter.
Marcus Bontempelli to win
Tom Green (GWS Giants)
As the leading midfielder in the AFL for disposals in 2024, GWS star Tom Green will be in the mix at some stage in the count. While he had a strong start and finish to the year, the 23-year-old may struggle through the middle rounds. However, in a top-four side that lacks standout midfield talent, Green offers super value as an outside chance with the top AFL betting sites.
Tom Green to win
Errol Gulden (Sydney)
After making a dramatic late charge in the 2023 Brownlow Medal count, Sydney wingman Errol Gulden is set to push the top of the leaderboard once again. The 22-year-old’s night will be heavily impacted by teammates Isaac Heeney and Chad Warner, but as we saw last year, the umpires are often drawn to high disposal tallies. At big odds with Bet365, Gulden is a great roughie bet for the 2024 Brownlow Medal.
