A fighting win by Global Glamour in her return from a spell has capped a big day at Caulfield for the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable.

The team had three horses competing at Saturday’s Caulfield Cup meeting and they all won.

Global Glamour won the Group One Thousand Guineas at Caulfield last spring and returned to the Melbourne track for the Group Two Tristarc Stakes (1400m) on Saturday.

She fended off a challenge from Cool Passion to win by a short-half head with Shillelagh was another three-quarters of a length away third.

The four-year-old mare was having her first start of the season and has the Group One Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington in two weeks as her aim.

Global Glamour’s stablemates Our Crown Mistress and Pinot won earlier, with Pinot taking out the Group Three Ethereal Stakes.

Waterhouse was thrilled to see Global Glamour return a winner.

“She was a bit out of sorts months ago and she’s come right around,” Waterhouse said.

“It’s hard when three-year-old fillies have to make the weight-for-age improvement but she has done that.

“We brought her down to Melbourne to win the Myer Classic and she’s certainly on target.”

Waterhouse indicated a Royal Ascot campaign could be on the radar next year depending on the mare’s upcoming performances.

Global Glamour was ridden by Tim Clark and the win had extra significance for the Sydney-based jockey.

“It’s my first win at Caulfield so it’s a great thrill, especially on a big day like today,” Clark said.

“Hopefully it helps with more opportunities over the carnival.”

Victoria’s premier trainer Darren Weir had four winners on the program while the Lindsay Park stable had a double including the feature $3 million Caulfield Cup with Boom Time.
